Today’s Scripture Reading: Hosea 2:14-8:14
Some things never change.
Hosea’s prophesies to the Israelites could just as easily be a message for today’s world.
Just like Israel, God’s chosen people,
many of today’s Christians think all God wants is our sacrifices of time (one hour on Sundays) and money (a $20 in the offering plate)–Once these two things are done, we’re good to go!
Unfortunately, we’re mistaken.
But there are two things God wants from us:
I want you to show love, not offer sacrifices.
I want you to know me more than I want burnt offerings. –Hosea 6:6
- Show Love
- Know God More
These two things aren’t a task-oriented “to-do list,” like weekly church attendance and offerings; they’re key elements of a different kind of lifestyle.
The more we know Him the more He will teach us how to love.
We can’t love unless we know Him.
Heavenly Father, teach us. Speak loudly to us. We want to know You more. We want to love like You love. Forgive us for our failures, shortcomings, and humanness. Forgive us of our sins. Help us to become more like You, Jesus.
In Your Name we pray. Amen and Amen!
