Lord, Help Me Not to “Frighten Anyone Else”–Deuteronomy 20:8

Today’s Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 16:18-21:9

Heavenly Father, thank you for reminding me that fear is contagious.  Thank you for reminding me that fear has no place in battle.

Then the officers will also say, ‘Is anyone here afraid or worried? If you are, you may go home before you frighten anyone else.’ –Deuteronomy 20:8

Lord, help me to recognize fear in my life. Help me to ask myself when I feel the spirit of fear creeping in, “Is this from my God?”

Holy Spirit, remind me of the words of 2 Timothy 1:7

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

Jesus, I don’t want to be one of those chosen to sit out and go home before I frighten the troops. I want to be strong in Your power.  I want to be used to bring glory to You and Your Kingdom.  I want to be on the front lines, causing others to “know You more.”  Teach me how to turn off the fear!

In Jesus’ Name.  Amen and Amen!
