Lord, Help Me Not to Judge–Job 34:7

Today’s Scripture Reading: Job 32:-34:37

Today’s Devotion:  Whose Opinion is Most Important?

Heavenly Father, I noticed something in Job today I’ve never really seen before.  It’s a book about judging others and just how wrong we can be.  Today we heard from “friend” number four; a feisty, arrogant, young guy, who was so wrong about Job.

Lord, how many times do we do this?  How many times do we judge people to their face?  How many times to we judge them behind their backs?  How many times do we judge them in our minds?

Forgive us, Lord God.

Help us to learn from this example that things are not always as they seem.  It’s much better to err on mercy than judgement.

Jesus, help us to learn from these words you spoke while you were on this earth:

Do not judge others, and you will not be judged.  For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged.

And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own? How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye?

Hypocrite!  First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye. Matthew 7:1-5

Holy Spirit, baptize us with compassion and mercy so that we can be Jesus not judge, to everyone we meet today.

In Jesus’ Name.  Amen and Amen!

Had a coffee conversation with Shaun about judging others this morning right before your post. Wow, am I glad I don’t have that job, although in my younger years I could have called it my profession!
Thank God for his redeeming mercy and grace!!!!

Colleen, I’m with you. Earlier in my life, I did a lot of judging and the funny thing was I constantly found myself in the same boat as those I judged. My favorite one was, “my kids will never act like that!” Boy, did I ever have to eat those words!

      Have a great week-end!

Growing up in a household strickly anti-gay, for years I was just the same. But then I came to realize that I was judging others sins. I have come to what I believe is the correct path that God wants me to follow, homosexuality is wrong in the eyes of God “for me” but worse then that is for me to attempt to judge anothers sins. If a person chooses to be gay, its not my place to tell him/her right or wrong and I shall not look down for their choices, I will be trying to get this plank out of my own eye my whole life, I can’t even see the speck in theirs. The only problem I see today is the attempt to push gay into peoples belief system, I will never be told its ok, now will I accept it as Godly…”for me!” Thank you for opening my eyes to the truth sweet Jesus
