Lord, I Want to Know You Like Balaam. —Numbers 24:15-16

Today’s Scripture Reading: Numbers 22:1-24:25

Heavenly Father, as I read the story of Balaam I was so impressed with his discipline. He would not answer King Balek or his messengers questions without consulting You first. He wasn’t tempted by gifts or the trapping of the king. Like a little girl in a candy story who just saw her favorite candy, I say “Lord, I want that! I want that kind of relationship with You.”

Lord, I want to know You Like Balaam.

Balaam told Balak, “Don’t you remember what I told your messengers? I said, ‘Even if Balak were to give me his palace filled with silver and gold, I would be powerless to do anything against the will of the Lord.’ I told you that I could say only what the Lord says! —Numbers 24: 12-13

Lord, let me see myself as Balaam did:

Decree of Balaam son of Beor,
decree of the man with 20/20 vision,
Decree of the man who hears godly speech,
who knows what’s going on with the High God,
Who sees what The Strong God reveals,
who bows in worship and sees what’s real.

Numbers 24:15-16 [The Message]

Lord, in today’s world it is so hard to know what’s real, to know what’s truth. Help me to follow You closely, spend time in Your Word, wait for You to reveal my next steps and worship You in everything I do.

In Jesus’ Name. Amen and Amen!
