Lord, Thank You for My Church–Psalms 122:1

Today’s Devotion: What if?

Heavenly Father, thank You for my church and my church family.  I say with David…

I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.”  –Psalms 122:1

Lord, since I was a little girl I have loved to be in church.  I remember spending countless hours “playing” in my grandparents little church.  It was practically next door to their house and in those days they didn’t lock the doors (crazy huh?)  I played the piano, preached sermons, and sang songs.  It gives new meaning to playing church!

But even as a little girl I knew their was something special about Your house.  It wasn’t the building, it was who it represented–the God of the universe, King of Kings, Lord of Lords.

Spending time alone in my church has brought me comfort, peace, and rest in my saddest times.  But I have also had some of the most amazing, joyful times of my life in my church.  My wedding, my daughter’s wedding, my children’s dedications, baptisms, plays, etc.

Lord, I pray for my friends who don’t have a church to call home.  Holy Spirit, lead them to the place You want them to be.  Help them to know when they’ve found their church home.  I pray that tomorrow is the day!

Lord, I can’t wait to meet You in worship tomorrow! You are worthy of my praise.

In Jesus’ Name.  Amen and Amen!
