Lord, This is Not How I Planned it —Proverbs 16:9

Unknown-1

Today’s Scripture Reading: Proverbs 14:1-16:33

Heavenly Father, I know this isn’t news to You, I’m a planner. I’m sure You’ve had many years of entertainment listening to me share my plans with You. Most of my life I’ve made my plans and then brought them to You for Your blessing. I wanted You to make MY plans come to pass.

Somehow I kept overlooking this scripture:

We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps. –Proverbs 16:9

Lord, I started this year with MY goals and plans but once again You grabbed me by my ear and changed my course. I wish I was spiritual enough to hear Your sweet, loving voice say, “walk this way” but most of the time You have to get physical with me to get me to move! I’m so glad You don’t say, “she made her plans, she can deal with the consequences,” which is what I deserve. Over and over, You rescue me from myself.

Heavenly Father, You treat me like Your child. How do I know this? Because, as a parent I have literally gone in and grabbed my children out of dangerous situations. Thank you for Your tough love!

You have determined my steps. This is a very different season, but in the midst of it I’m thankful. No, I didn’t plan it this way but You know what I need. I’m resting in Your plan. Thank You for determining my steps.

I trust You!

One Response to “Lord, This is Not How I Planned it —Proverbs 16:9”

    Great, thought provoking, post Dianne!

Matt 18:3-4 come to mind here. Was Jesus inferring that we should trust as a child does? Life may not always turn out nor go in the direction that WE deem it should but if we have the child like faith/trust in Him he will not forsake us.

Oh, to one day graduate from life and be forever with Him!
