Today’s Scripture Reading: 1 John 1:1-4:6
Heavenly Father, the things of this world are like magnets pulling us away from what pleases You.
Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. —1 John 2:15-17 (emphasis mine)
Lord, why do we think we can love “the world” AND You?
Because we have the mind of Adam and Eve. We want it all!
- We want physical pleasure
- We want everything we see
- We want to enjoy the pride of achievement
But it’s a mirage—it’s slowly fading away.
Lord, everyday it’s a choice– You or the world. I want to choose You. Holy Spirit, give me wisdom and discernment to be able to recognize the tricks and traps the enemy uses to draw me away from You.
In Jesus Name. Amen and Amen!
