Today’s Scripture Reading: Isaiah 30:1-33:24
This past weekend my Mom bought some “fresh off the farm” peas from a farmer in her area so I decided I would go and buy some as well. She began to give me directions and I said, “Just give me the address, I have my G.P.S., I won’t have a problem finding it.”
Well, it didn’t exactly turn out that way. I found the road but the “final destination” was not correct. I called my Mom, but she couldn’t help me. I finally had to call the farmer. Once he told me a couple of things like…when the payment ends, there’s a metal shed between the house and the trailer…You know, farmer directions.
I was immediately able to find the farm and my peas.
I don’t know about you but I’ve had many times in my life when I went the wrong way because I my internal G.P.S. thought it knew were I should go.
Maybe it’s cynical, or maybe it’s wisdom but at this season in life I don’t believe everything I hear. Even when the crowd is shouting, “Just Do it! Just Do it!”
I don’t even trust my own thoughts!

The Holy Spirit
He is the only G.P.S that will never fail, always has the latest updates, and even knows Farmers’ directions.
O people of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more.
He will be gracious if you ask for help.
He will surely respond to the sound of your cries.
Though the Lord gave you adversity for food and suffering for drink,
he will still be with you to teach you.
You will see your teacher with your own eyes.
Your own ears will hear him.
Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,”
whether to the right or to the left. –Isaiah –30:19-21
Dianne, “this is the way you should go!” Yes, Lord, speak to me. That’s what I want!
Heavenly Father, I don’t want to go the wrong way. I’m tired of making mistakes. Teach me to hear Your voice, Holy Spirit. Draw me to Your Word; the place where I learn to recognize Your voice and Your ways. Drown out the voices of this culture. Guide and direct me today.
In Jesus’ Name. Amen and Amen!
